WHY ITTP
ITTP recommends you take into account all of the following points when making your final decision about which school to take your Onsite international TEFL/TESOL certification course with.
Internationally recognized?
Yes. TEFL courses in general are recognized as long as they meet the industry
standard of being at least 100 hours, have a minimum of 6 hours of teaching
practice observed by an experienced trainer, and have qualified teacher
trainers. The ITTP IntCertTEFL/TESOL Onsite course is 130 hours and offers
14+ hours of actual hands-on teaching and this covers teaching Young Learners/Very
Young Learners, Group Lessons, One-To-One Lessons, General AND Business
English Lessons (of which our clients include Unicredit Bank, Zivnostenska
Bank and the national Dnes newspaper offices) - more variation than any
other school in Prague. In addition our trainers have over 20 years of EFL/ESOL
experience and teacher training experience between them. Alena is currently
studying for her PhD in teaching English and Neville has and continues to
contribute to ongoing TEFL/TESOL literary research (for further details
pls refer to About Us).
In addition though, Onsite international TEFL/TESOL certification courses
MUST be linked to a larger teaching organization. These can include Trinity,
Cambridge, The College Of Teachers, or the British Council. ITTP is Institutional
member of the College Of Teachers, a member of the British Council. ITTP
is also Educational Partner with Cambridge University Press. Both ITTP Onsite
certification courses and ITTP Online/Onsite combination certification course
(and the ITTP Online certification courses)
lead to the awarding of the internationally recognized TEFL/TESOL certificate
and you will be employable worldwide following your course. ITTP is additional
Educational Partner with the local Elementary School at Stare Mesto, faculty
school of Prague's Charles University. Here trainees have the opportunity
of teaching Young and Very Young Learners and are observed by leading English
teachers in the field, such as Ms Mgr. Vuckova who was awarded the title
English Teacher Of The Year 2006 (awarded by the European Commission EU,
NA Socrates).
ITTP is also proud to be member of the British Chamber of Commerce Czech
Republic. The British Chamber of Commerce is a member of COBCOE - the Council
of British Chambers of Commerce in Continental Europe. As recognition of
the Chamber's substantial growth, influence and achievements over the past
years, the Chamber was identified the best from twenty three British Chambers
in Europe and was presented with the prestigious Chamber of the Year 2004
award.
Lastly, our grads teach worldwide; from La Paz in Bolivia to Chiang Mai
in Thailand. The vast majority of so called international TEFL courses in
Prague, based solely in Prague, claim to offer international certification
but in reality simply offer a fancy piece of paper (sometimes accredited
by just 1 international body) which is valid only in Eastern Europe. An
international school such as ITTP has a global network of education contacts
and the advantage of the investment of international TEFL/TESOL certification
with ITTP is both our local Prague knowledge expertise and our global knowledge
expertise.
Job assistance program and job guarantee?
It's no good being linked to a larger teaching organization but lack having job assistance for grads. A job assistance program is essential and it is important to question a school if they can guarantee you a job after. If not, then they might not be internationally recognized.
ITTP provides an extensive job assistance program and to date ITTP has a 100% record of finding its grads, who wish to teach immediately and who are sufficiently active in their search, teaching positions within 4 weeks of finishing their course. This represents ITTP’s global reputation and extensive network of global educational contacts/ partners: ITTP sends its grads all over the world.
This applies to both ITTP’s Native English and Non-Native English Onsite and Online TEFL/TESOL grads who take either the Prague Online/Onsite, Prague Onsite – Low Season, Prague Onsite – High Season, (or Online course options).
Selection task?
A selection task shows that a school maintains high standards of entrance criteria and provides you with the confidence that upon acceptance that you will be at the level needed to successfully complete the course.
The process of booking your place on all 3 ITTP Onsite international TEFL/TESOL courses begins with completing the ITTP online application form.
We will then arrange a mutually convenient time for a telephone interview (at our expense).
Primarily, the reason ITTP has a selection task is to have a better idea of an applicants' language awareness and language skills. We are looking for the ways in which applicants use the language and in the forms in which they express and describe their ideas. There is also attention to basic sentence structure and correct grammar usage.
It is also an important opportunity for you to personally talk to a member of the ITTP team and ask any further questions which you might have for us.
An additional reason for a selection task is to avoid offering a place to (and accept payment from), someone who we feel does not have a good chance of passing their chosen Onsite international TEFL/TESOL certification course.
When we ask students what they look for in a teacher, the most common answer is for a teacher who simply loves teaching. ITTP therefore encourages applications from anyone who has a passion for teaching whether they have university education/taught before or not.
Class size?
Some TEFL/TESOL schools tend to accept as many trainees as they can.
ITTP accepts a maximum of just 14 trainees per Onsite course date. We think
this is a sensible number and ITTP’s small class numbers reflects its commitment
to education.
Teaching practice?
On ITTP international TEFL/TESOL courses teaching practicum isn’t limited to just 1 type of classroom training - trainees teach different learner levels/ types and ITTP offers 14+ hours of actual hands-on teaching, covering teaching Young Learners/Very Young Learners, Group Lessons, One-To-One Lessons, General AND Business English Lessons (of which our clients include Unicredit Bank, Zivnostenska Bank and the national Dnes newspaper offices) - more variation than any other school in Prague. Getting to teach in different settings and with different learner levels makes the transition from classroom training to paid teaching a very smooth and natural process.
ITTP is unique in that it provides 2 internationally recognized combined Online/Onsite TEFL/TESOL certification courses (includes the All Inclusive Online course option) and 2 internationally recognized Onsite TEFL/TESOL certification courses which each include 10-15 hours of varied teaching practice experience.
The Prague Online/Onsite
is recommended for applicants, with or without prior teaching experience
or prior experience of learning a foreign language, who require the opportunity
to complete onsite teaching practice study combined with the flexibility
of online home study.
It is the perfect solution for anyone wishing to take an Onsite international
TEFL/TESOL certification program abroad but for whom other commitments mean
that studying full-time abroad is not a realistic option.
The Prague Onsite
– Low Season is recommended for applicants, with or without
prior teaching experience or prior experience of learning a foreign language,
who choose to take their Onsite international TEFL/TESOL studies any month
between November and May (includes the months November and May).
The Prague Onsite
– High Season is recommended for applicants, with or without
prior teaching experience or prior experience of learning a foreign language,
who choose to take their Onsite international TEFL/TESOL studies any month
between June and October (includes the months June and October).
Good location?
As well as experiencing an excellent course, you will also want to experience as much of Prague as you can too. Cutting down on traveling to class time reduces trainee fatigue and being surrounded by beautiful architecture inspires trainees and encourages increased learning potential. Some schools in Prague may claim to have beautiful central Prague locations but in reality may be a 1 hour journey out of the center. Even a 15 minute tram ride out of the center of Prague might be taking you to an area not exactly postcard material and with potential security concerns.
Our address is Jungmannova 32, Praha 1 (you can't get any more central than that!) - our premises are just 1 minute walk from the main shopping area of Mustek and a stone's throw from the Wenceslas Square and a 5 minute walk to Staromestska Namest (The Old Town Square). Companies who share our location include Tesco and Deutsche Bank. The main companies which our trainees teach their Business English practicum at are within 5 minute's walk from our Prague 1 center. Prague is made up of different zones and Prague 1 is the central zone and the safest zone - where the commercial district rubs shoulders with Prague's famous cafe, bar and restaurant scene. ALWAYS make sure that your training AND teaching practice will take place in Prague 1 - a fantastic location makes for a fantastic experience!
Is it also a language school?
It is important that your TEFL/TESOL school also be a language school as this means that your school will have a lot more experience in dealing with teachers and so will be more sympathetic and knowledgeable of your needs as a teacher in training. It will mean that you will also gain additional exposure and assistance from real teachers who are currently teaching and who can provide you with valuable inside teaching tips/advice.
At ITTP we have had to date over 10 years of language teaching experience together with our educational partner Global Teachers and ITTP runs English language classes through Global Teachers. The additional bonus of this cooperation is that teachers have an additional teaching option at the end of their studies.
Past graduate contact?
When we were upgrading our website to include the flash option, we chose to focus the flash on the most important aspect of our service: You.
You are the reason why we (ITTP) exist and it brings us tremendous job satisfaction when we receive postcards and emails from our past grads, writing to thank us for the wonderful opportunity of being able to travel and teach worldwide, and also telling us of the joy which they (our grads) have brought to others around the world through their teaching.
For further information please refer to Testimonials .
Some further reasons to choose ITTP:
• ITTP provides a prompt, professional and
personal service and promises to respond to emails within 1 business day.
ITTP’s team leaders have extensive professional experience of teaching
English abroad in various corners of the world and are understanding of
the requirements and expectations of trainees and grads.
All ITTP Onsite trainers have been carefully handpicked. They have a huge
amount of international TEFL/TESOL experience and are understanding of the
needs and requirements of trainees whilst in training and of our grads when
they enter the global teaching job market.
In addition, we are all aware of the pros and cons of relocating and sympathetic
and supportive of our trainees and grads throughout their TEFL/TESOL career.
For further information please refer to About
Us.
• Accommodation:
ITTP provides excellent value-for-money beautifully furnished shared and
single occupancy apartment options for its Onsite trainees in the heart
of the historical quarter of Prague - an exclusive area of Prague 1, just
15 minute’s walk from the ITTP Onsite international TEFL/TESOL Jungmannova
training center. This location is absolutely superb and really convenient
as it is in a very quiet street of an otherwise bustling Prague 1 and located
around the corner from the local Elementary School at Stare Mesto, faculty
school of Prague's Charles University – this is where you will be having
Teaching Young Learners and Very Young Learners teaching practice lessons.
Because of its close proximity to the Hotel Intercontinental and to the
government school building, it is a very secure area with CCTV and regular
security guard patrols - not that there is any real reason for the guard
patrols though as downtown Prague is very safe.
Living in the center provides a natural comfort and means that you are always
just around the corner from your favorite downtown bar, jazz club, theatre,
etc. - an inspiring 5 minute’s walk will take you to the very heart of
the historical center of Prague’s Staromestska Namesti (Old Town Square).
•ITTP’s after-sales service is excellent.
From the time of your first enquiry - through to graduation - and then throughout
your teaching career, the ITTP team are here providing you with ongoing
professional support for the whole of your international TEFL/TESOL career.
ITTP is regularly updating its global job contacts and local knowledge of
global TEFL/TESOL destinations and this provides its grads with an excellent
basis for advice from anything from which country to teach next, to where
the best schools are in a particular city or town.
• It is important to ascertain if you will need
to pay anything additional once committing to a school. Some schools do
have hidden fees.
It may also be the case that schools will sometimes hire agencies to act
as negotiator between school and applicant, resulting in an additional finders
fee being added to final course balances.
With ITTP you will always be in direct contact with a senior member of staff and there are no additional/hidden costs. Course fees are inclusive of VAT/State Taxes and are inclusive of all materials and external moderation/certification fees.
